The Area Command is the easiest way to determine the area of a particular space (often times this area is in the form of square footage for landscape architects).  The AREA command in AutoCAD, however, is made to only determine one objects square footage at a time.  The lisp Command POLYAREA, however, allows you to determine the square footage for multiple objects at once.  It’s not exactly clear to us who first developed the lisp command POLYAREA, but feel free to leave a comment with a link to the originator.

The POLYAREA lisp command can be downloaded from the following link:  PolyArea LISP Command

Below is a tutorial that demonstrates how to install and utilize the lisp command.

**If you are unfamiliar with a lisp command, it is essentially command that is not native to AutoCAD but created (often times outside of Autodesk) and loaded into AutoCAD for use.
